In my opinion, a glow is the best feature skin could have! It exudes health and youth. As a makeup artist and a beauty junkie, I've spent up to $200 on creams hoping to get a "natural" glow. Little did I know, I could find it in most organic health food stores under...cooking oil. That's right I said cooking oil.
Coconut oil is nt only healthy for your diet, it is beneficial for your hair and skin. The way I am with coconut oil is the way the dad is about Windex in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding." It can really be used for anything! A great article with 101 Uses for Coconut Oil can be found here. My top 3 uses are
1. As a day/night moisturizer/eye cream.
At niht I literally slather this all over my face. Yes it's not the cutest look to go to bed with but I wake up to beautiful soft skin. For a day cream I use just a pea size amount under my makeup.
2. Body Lotion
Since I was young I've struggled with keratosis pilais (KP) which are basically tiny bumps 1 in 3 women get on their arms, back, etc. Nothing has helped my KP as much as coconut oil. I exfoliate with this amazing japanese wash cloth in the shower and apply coconut oil while I'm still damp. I hate oils that stay oily on the skin but this one sinks in and drys pretty quickly.
3. Lip Balm
Ever since using coconut oil, I haven't had to buy any lip balm (which I'm usually addicted to!) My favorite lip balm ritual is to apply a little bit of coconut oil, then exfoliate my lips with a towel, then putting a bit more oil on. It keeps my lips super soft and smooth!
You can find coconut oil at any organic grocery store, or you can order it on Amazon.
